The Wine
Tamar Valley Vineyard, a family-run enterprise established on the Devon slopes of the River Tamar, began planting grapes in 2016, with their first harvest in 2019. They produce a range of English wines, including a sparkling white, "Ag Brut," made from the Madeleine Angevine grape, and a still rosé called "Royal Sovereign Rosé," crafted from Rondo grapes. Their on-site winery became operational in 2021.The vineyard's sparkling wine, "Ag," received a bronze award at the Independent English Wine Awards in 2024. This particular sparkling wine is noted for being one of the few in the world made with Madeleine Angevine, offering a crisp, floral, and elegant profile that appeals to those who prefer less acidic sparkling wines.
The vineyard is located within the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is committed to conserving and enhancing the natural and historic landscape, as well as protecting the unique biodiversity and heritage of the area.
