The Wine
Nyetimber is celebrated for its world-class English sparkling wines, produced exclusively using the traditional method and estate-grown Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes. Their portfolio includes the flagship Classic Cuvée, a vibrant Rosé, the delicate Blanc de Blancs, the sweeter Cuvée Chérie, the single-vineyard Tillington, and the pinnacle of their winemaking, the prestige Cuvée 1086.Nyetimber has garnered numerous international awards and accolades. In 2010, their Classic Cuvée 2003 notably outperformed Bollinger and Louis Roederer in a blind tasting at the Bollicine del Mondo competition in Verona. More recently, their Classic Cuvée Multi-Vintage and Classic Cuvée 2010 in Magnum were awarded Gold at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2020. Their Head Winemaker, Cherie Spriggs, made history in 2018 by becoming the first person outside of Champagne and the first woman to be named "International Sparkling Winemaker of the Year" at the International Wine Challenge.
The vineyard is committed to a sustainable and holistic approach to land management, working towards accreditation with LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming). They employ practices such as composting pruning waste and pressed grape skins for natural fertiliser, and maintaining an herbicide-free trial area. Their state-of-the-art Pressing Centre is designed with energy efficiency in mind, utilising photovoltaic cells for power and recycling rainwater. Energy is also harvested and recycled during the winemaking process itself.
All of Nyetimber's wines are crafted at their own winery, which includes a modern Pressing Centre.
