The Wine
Murmur y Môr cultivates grapes to produce both still white and sparkling white wines. The vineyard has planted approximately 1,300 vines across five different varietals, including Seyval Blanc, Solaris, and Pinot Gris. A further 1,700 vines and three more varietals are planned for planting in 2026.The vineyard embraces sustainable viticultural practices, utilizing disease-resistant hybrid grape varieties like Seyval Blanc and Solaris, which are well-suited to the Welsh climate. This approach reduces the need for extensive agrochemical treatments, contributing to soil health and overall environmental sustainability.
An on-site winery is scheduled to open its doors in 2025, allowing Murmur y Môr to manage the entire winemaking process from grape to bottle. While Welsh wines, in general, are gaining recognition and some parallel award-winning European sparkling wines, Murmur y Môr has not yet announced specific awards for their own wines as they are still in the early stages of production.
