The Wine

Mountfield Winery specialises in producing premium English sparkling wines, crafted using the traditional method from grapes grown on their 10-acre vineyard. The vineyard cultivates Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grape varieties. The winery focuses on low quantities of first-class sparkling wines, meticulously caring for each of their 14,000 vines. Their winemaking approach includes fermenting wines in both stainless steel and oak barrels to enhance complexity, as well as blending wines from earlier vintages and long-aging their products to achieve a rich, layered taste profile.

Mountfield Winery's commitment to quality has been recognised with awards. They received a Silver medal at the 2019 Decanter World Wine Awards and another Silver at The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships in 2022.

The vineyard benefits from a 15kw solar array on top of their wine store, contributing to their energy needs. Mountfield operates its own winery on site, converting an old dairy unit next to the vineyard. This proximity ensures that grapes go directly from vine to press without delay, preserving fruit quality.
