What's the vibe

Laurel Vines offers a genuinely welcoming, family-run vineyard experience set within the rural East Yorkshire landscape, promising quality wines with an authentic, down-to-earth appeal. It's a place where passion for winemaking meets a strong commitment to sustainability.

Visiting information

Laurel Vines operates primarily through pre-booked events, offering a variety of engaging experiences throughout the year. While you can't simply pop in for a casual drink, their calendar features regular opportunities to visit and enjoy their wines.

Availability: Tours and events are typically seasonal, with vineyard picnics and 'Herd it on the Grapevine' tours running from April to September, and Afternoon Teas from November to March. It is advisable to check their website for specific dates and booking requirements.
Food & Drink: On-site catering is available during events, with a new catering manager ensuring a range of food options. This includes picnic baskets with sandwiches and scones, afternoon teas featuring savory pastries and sweet treats, and themed Friday nights offering different cuisines. A wine bar also operates on Saturdays, serving light bites alongside their wines.
Special Events: Beyond standard tours and tastings, Laurel Vines hosts unique experiences like the "Herd it on the Grapevine" tour, a joint venture with Dumble Farm that includes a vineyard tour and a Highland Cow safari. They also offer themed Friday nights and a Wednesday Wine Club for deeper engagement.
Accessibility: The vineyard is dog-friendly for picnic events, and assistance dogs are welcome.

The Wine

Laurel Vines produces a diverse range of award-winning still and sparkling wines, overseeing the entire process from grape to bottle at their on-site winery – the only one in East Yorkshire. Their still wine selection includes white varietals such as Madeleine Angevine, Ortega, and Solaris, alongside a Rondo Rosé and a Laurel Red. In 2022, they expanded their offerings to include sparkling wines, produced using the traditional Champagne method.

The vineyard has received significant recognition for its wines and practices. They are multi-award winners, including two REYTA (Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Award) accolades in 2023 for being a "Remarkable Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism" business and a "Remarkable Local Producer". They also won a REYTA for sustainability in 2022 and hold the Wine GB Midlands and North Protected Designation of Origin.

Sustainability is central to Laurel Vines' operations. They are a low-carbon, low-environmental-impact vineyard, having implemented measures like replacing fencing with native hedgerows, reducing agrichemicals, and installing solar panels to power their winery and vineyard equipment. They use vermicast, an earthworm-derived product, to further decrease chemical use and improve soil health. In 2021, they joined Sustainable Wine of Great Britain, working towards accreditation, and aim to become carbon neutral by 2025. They also use organic pest and fertiliser treatments.
