The Wine
Hungerhill Vineyard, established in 2020, produces both still and sparkling wines from its four-hectare site in Bedfordshire, housing its own in-house winery. They primarily cultivate Bacchus, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay grapes.Their Merstone Rosé 2022, a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay, earned a Bronze medal at the WineGB East Awards in 2023. In the 2024 IEWA (Independent English Wine Awards) competition, Merstone Wines achieved significant recognition, securing four medals. The Merstone Chardonnay 2022 was awarded a Silver medal, while their upcoming 2023 vintages of Ortega, Bacchus, and Pinot Blanc each received Bronze medals. Additionally, their Hungerhill Col Fondo was named the IEWA 2025 Sparkling Trophy Winner.
The vineyard employs artisanal and traditional winemaking methods, aiming to respect nature and wildlife in their production.
