It offers a relaxed and informal atmosphere, focusing on hand-tended grapes and a dedication to quality that has produced many award-winning wines.

Visiting information

Can you pop in for a drink or do you need to pre-book a tour?

The vineyard occasionally opens its shop for informal tastings and sales, typically on Saturday afternoons during the summer. Tours are generally self-guided during these open periods, with brief guided walk-arounds sometimes available.

The Wine

Hendred Vineyard produces a range of award-winning still and sparkling wines from grapes grown on its three-acre site, including Pinot Noir, Seyval Blanc, Madeleine Angevine, and Bacchus varieties. Their sparkling wines include Hendred Brut and Hendred Brut Rosé, while still offerings feature a Rosé and white wines like 'Hendred Mist' and 'Hendred Furlong'.

The wines have received significant recognition, particularly within the regional Thames and Chilterns Vineyards Association competition, where they won 'Best Rosé' in both 2019 and 2023, and 'Best Sparkling Wine' in 2020. Nationally, Hendred Brut has earned a silver medal, and Hendred Furlong received a silver medal in the 2025 WineGB competition, notably as the highest-scoring Madeleine Angevine wine.

The vineyard employs environmentally friendly practices, using minimal chemical sprays and relying on the site's nutrient-rich soil and sunny, breezy aspect. Grapes are hand-tended and hand-picked. All wines produced are vegan-friendly. While the grapes are grown onsite, the winemaking process is outsourced to external experts, allowing the vineyard to focus on grape cultivation.
