What's the vibe

Coates and Seely offers a stylish and refined English sparkling wine experience, rooted in the unique chalk terroir of Hampshire. This family-owned vineyard embraces both artisanal craftsmanship and modern winemaking technology, including the only concrete fermentation eggs in England, to create distinctive and elegant wines.

Visiting Information

Coates and Seely welcomes visitors by appointment for private tours of their vineyard and winery. These exclusive experiences include sparkling wine tastings, often accompanied by food pairings prepared by trained chef Virginia Coates. Transport within the estate is uniquely provided by 'Albion,' their 1952 vintage coach. The focus is on a bespoke and intimate experience, so pre-booking is essential.

The Wine

Coates and Seely is renowned for its high-quality English sparkling wines, crafted from the classic Champagne varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Their portfolio includes a range of Non-Vintage and Vintage releases such as Brut Reserve NV, Rosé NV, Blanc de Blancs NV, and the prestigious 'La Perfide' vintage wines. The estate operates its own state-of-the-art winery, integrating traditional techniques with modern innovations like concrete fermentation eggs, which are rare in England.

The wines have received significant critical acclaim and numerous awards. In 2017, Coates and Seely was awarded the Supreme Champion medal for its La Perfide Blanc de Blancs 2009 at the UK Wine Awards, where their wines were also named Best Overall Wine, Best Sparkling Wine, Best Blanc de Blancs, and Best Sparkling Rosé. They were also recognized as Winery of the Year at the WineGB Awards in 2018. More recently, their Brut Reserve NV won the coveted Best in Show Trophy and a Platinum medal at the 2022 Decanter World Wine Awards, scoring 97 points. Coates and Seely wines are found in royal palaces and Michelin-starred restaurants globally, and notably, their wine is the only non-French sparkling wine sold at the prestigious George V Hotel in Paris.
