The Wine

Carden Park's three-acre vineyard is Cheshire's largest commercial vineyard, established over 30 years ago. It cultivates two grape varieties, Seyval Blanc and Pinot Noir, specifically chosen for their ability to thrive in the UK climate. The vineyard is dedicated to producing Carden Park Estate Reserve sparkling wines, including a white brut and a rosé. The 2021 Seyval Blanc Sparkling White Wine received a Silver Medal at the Independent English Wine Awards (IEWA) in 2024, praised for its distinctive, summery character with balanced acidity and orchard fruit notes. The vineyard can produce up to 10,000 bottles annually, with a record harvest in 2023 yielding approximately 15,500 bottles.

While the grapes are grown on the estate and harvested by the Carden Park team, the wine production, including fermentation, is done in collaboration with Halfpenny Green Winemakers of South Staffordshire. The hotel is recognized as eco-certified, with recycling on-site and electric car charging points available.

By Car: Use postcode SY14 7HZ for sat nav. Carden Park is easily accessible from the M6; for those from the South, join the M54 at junction 10a and take the A41 towards Chester. From the North, leave the M6 at junction 20a and follow the M56 and M53 to the A41 for Whitchurch. At the Broxton roundabout, turn towards Wrexham on the A534, and the hotel is 1.5 miles on the left. Electric vehicle charging points are available on site.
By Public Transport: The nearest major train station is Chester Station, approximately 14 miles away. A taxi from Chester Station takes around 20-24 minutes. A bus service (D&G Bus line 41) also runs between Holywell Lane (near the hotel) and Chester Station, with a journey time of approximately 47 minutes, operating twice daily from Monday to Saturday.
