The Wine

Ambriel specialises in producing Traditional Method English Sparkling Wines, made exclusively from estate-grown grapes. Their vineyards are planted with classic Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. The range includes a Classic Cuvée, a vibrant Huzzah Rosé, an English Reserve (Demi-Sec), Blanc de Noirs, and Blanc de Blancs. These wines are made in their on-site winery, allowing for meticulous control from grape to glass.

Ambriel wines have received multiple accolades, with the Classic Cuvée Brut NV earning a Silver award in 2020 at the IWSC. The owners, Wendy and Charles, are personally involved in the winemaking process, with Wendy overseeing the vineyard and Charles the cellar.

The vineyard practices intelligent viticulture, promoting biodiversity by not using insecticides or herbicides. They encourage beneficial insects, wild flowers, and winter grazing by small Ouessant sheep, which naturally manage the vineyard floor. Ambriel aims for zero waste and uses green energy in the winery, which is also well-insulated to minimise heating and cooling needs. The vineyard is certified carbon neutral, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability, including regenerative viticulture practices.
